Smokey and Bros gatecrash the Kalbarri Skywalk
You’ll never guess who showed up at one of Kalbarri’s most iconic lookouts recently…
Three cats.
Wearing sunglasses.
Taking a selfie.
No, this isn’t the start of a joke — it’s a cheeky digital tribute to the region’s most jaw-dropping scenic spot. Smokey, Pecco, and Floki, the adventurous feline faces of Smokey & Bros, “visited” the Skywalk in their own unique way — virtually!
While pets aren’t allowed in the national park, that didn’t stop the boys from imagining what it would be like to gaze across the gorge in style.
About the Skywalk

This clifftop platform in Kalbarri National Park offers panoramic views over the Murchison River and ancient red gorges. Perched 100 metres above the canyon floor, the Skywalk in Kalbarri is one of the top-rated things to do in Kalbarri for nature lovers, photographers, and adventurers alike.
Whether you visit at sunrise or sunset, the view will take your breath away.
Getting There & What to Bring
The Kalbarri Skywalk is located in the inland section of Kalbarri National Park, about 30 minutes from the town centre. The road is sealed and accessible by 2WD, with toilets, shaded seating, and interpretive signs available onsite.
Here’s what to bring for a great experience:
- A refillable water bottle
- Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
- Your camera or phone — the views are too good to miss
- A pair of comfy walking shoes (there are short trails nearby too!)
More to Explore Around Kalbarri
If you’re planning a full day out, pair your visit to the Skywalk with a trip to Nature’s Window, located just a few kilometres away. Or head back toward town and enjoy lunch at one of Kalbarri’s coastal cafes, take a stroll along the foreshore trail, or catch the sunset from Red Bluff Lookout. There’s no shortage of photo-worthy moments and local gems to explore while you’re here.
Can I Bring My Pet?
As much as we love animals (and clearly, so do Smokey & the Bros), pets are not permitted in Kalbarri National Park — including the Skywalk and surrounding trails.
This rule helps protect native wildlife and also keeps pets safe from 1080 poison baits, which are used in the park for predator control.

Where to Go With Pets in Kalbarri

Luckily, Kalbarri is still a fantastic destination for pet lovers. If you’re planning a pet-friendly Kalbarri holiday, there are plenty of local spots outside the park that welcome furry travel companions.
Here are a few ideas:
- Walk the Kalbarri Foreshore Trail
- Relax at Chinaman’s Beach
- Stay at one of the pet-friendly holiday parks
- Enjoy sunset views from Red Bluff Lookout (dogs allowed in carparks & on leash nearby)

Who Are Smokey & Bros?
Smokey, Pecco, and Floki are the playful personalities behind SmokeyandBros.com, an Aussie brand combining cat humour, custom pet art, and mental wellness messages — with a few road trips thrown in.
This digital photo was part of their new travel series, featuring the boys popping up in iconic Aussie destinations. And yes — Kalbarri made the cut.

Final Thought from Smokey & the Bros
While the boys didn’t technically hike the Skywalk themselves (we’ll call it “creative license”), their visit is a fun reminder that travel isn’t just about the destination — it’s about the memories we make and the stories we share.
So whether you’re traveling solo, with your family, or with a four-legged companion, Kalbarri welcomes you with open skies, unforgettable landscapes, and a touch of Aussie humour along the way.
🐾 A Final Word from Floki:
“We came. We saw. We totally ignored the rules.”
— Floki, unapologetic mischief-maker 😹
